To celebrate the International Year of Chemistry, INEOS is delighted to sponsor the Chemical Industries Association
International Year of Chemistry competition. The competition, launched by Esther McVey MP at the House of Commons, is for school pupils of all ages to think about how science impacts their everyday lives and how science might transform life as we know it by 2050.
Everywhere around you the chemical industry has changed your life. Without the plastics of the chemical industry you would not have games consoles, computers, modern footballs that don't soak up the water, most of your clothes, cars, paper, pens, even the clean water you drink from a tap and the medicines that make you better. So if we can do all of this in 2011 what could we do by 2050?
- Will we still have schools, homework and chores?
- Will elderly people look old?
- Will we have cars?
- Will people in 2050 laugh about how we live now?
- Will our clothes look the same?
- Will we look the same?
- How will the environment around us look?
- Will we still have the same hobbies and play the same sport?
- Will we still work in the same offices, shops and factories?
- What will we eat, how will it taste?
By giving us your view on these types of questions you stand a chance of winning a prize for your school.
