Being scared of the dentist could soon be a thing of the past!
A new gadget has been developed to help drown out the sound of the dentist's drill, while letting other sounds in.
Patients could simply plug in their headphones and mp3 player into the device and listen to music while they have their dental work carried out.
The system works in the same way to noise-cancelling headphones that are used on aeroplanes.
The sound from the drill is picked up by a microphone and produces a sound wave which is the opposite of the one made by the drill.
The gadget still lets the patient hear other noises like the sound of the dentist's voice.
It is hoped that this will help people be less afraid of visiting the dentist and so they can have their teeth looked after better.
